Class Osteichthyes
Body Plan- these are fishes with jaws and skeleton made out of bone, has paired fins, have scales for protection, anterior mouth, have a swim bladder, bilateral symmetry
excretion- use their to excrete wastes from their bodies, change nitrogen into ammonia; use their kidneys and they have an anus which is an opening that eliminates wastes from their bodies
reproduction- separate sexes, some external and some internal fertilization, viviparous and oviparous
respiration- they use gills to breathe, lungfish use lung to respirate
nervous system- has a brain and a spinal cord, olfactory bulbs located on either sides of the head and connected to nostrils, have a lateral line system which detects vibrations in water
digestion- they are carnivores or filter feeders or herbivores; digestive tract consists of glands, liver, gallbladder, pancreas
circulation- have 2 chambered heart, consisting of an atrium and a ventricle; closed circulatory system; have blood vessels
movement- they have a swim bladder to control buoyancy( depth), have fins, a tail with a movement of side to side
behaviour- live in fresh or saltwater; males become aggressive towards each other when its time to find a mate
